Every year, the municipality of Magallanes plays host to the Concelebrated Mass held in Sitio Gibalon, Barangay Siuton. The Mass celebrates the first ever Catholic Mass in the island of Luzon. This year is the 450th Year of that occasion. Hence, last October 19, it was no other than the Apostolic Nuncio in the Philippines Gabriele Giordano Caccia who concelebrated the Mass together with the Diocesan Bishops of Masbate, Catanduanes and Sorsogon. Over thirty priests joined the celebration of the Eucharist. Among those who were also present were Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines H.E. Luis Antonio Calvo, our very own Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero, Congresswoman Evelina “Nanay” Escudero, Vice-Governor Manuel “Wowo” Fortes and members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Mayor Augusto Manuel M. Ragragio, his wife Len, Vice-Mayor Allen Arambulo and Sangguniang Bayan members were also in attendance to welcome guests and visitors.

Over five thousand Mass-goers, pilgrims and visitors attended this very historic and meaningful occasion, a first in Magallanes.
