The Local Government Unit through the Office of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development, in partnership with the Sorsogon Integrated Health Services Incorporated (SIHSFI) facilitate the house to house turn-over of wheelchairs to five beneficiaries. Said assistive devices are granted by the Church of the Latter-day Saints in collaboration with the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRRTH).
Three of the five beneficiaries are paralyzed senior citizens namely Nazairo Esperanza, Emilia Lubiano and Ligaya Buelo; while the two others, Hernando Hibay and Jaime Mendizabal, are both orthopedically impaired.
Prior the award of wheelchairs, beneficiaries are evaluated and asked to submit documentary requirements. Meanwhile, family representatives of beneficiaries are expected to do a 40-hour community service in lieu of the said assistive device.
