Magallanes is a place where God’s nature and our people have blended to create an awesome paradise for visitors to remember and cherish for a long, long time. It is a place where mountains merge with the sea, where our winding roads offer the best breathtaking views of unforgettable scenery of lush forests and coconut plantations. It is a place of rich heritage and history and importantly, a pilgrimage place for those who follow our country’s Christian journey.

To our fellow Catholics, Sitio Gibalon is hallowed ground where the very First Mass in mainland Luzon was celebrated in 1569 by Augustinian Friar Alonzo Jimenez. According to historians, for some years, Magallanes was a frequent route for the Catholic clergy from Mexico on their way to Nueva Caceres (now the provinces of Camarines) and all the way to Manila. Come and visit our Gibalon Shrine!

Our very own Parola Beach is a wonderful place for picnics and get-togethers. It also features a Lighthouse that is the only conical-shaped iron tower built by the Americans in 1904. It is a must-visit location for travel bloggers and history enthusiasts. It has been well-preserved and is functional to this day. Visitors will surely enjoy the amazing view around the nearby viewdeck built over the old lighthouse keeper’s quarters. Awesome!

Bucal-bucalan Resort in Barangay Aguada is a refreshing cold-spring locale perfect for swimming and social gatherings. Families and friends are much welcome in its native poolside cottages and invigorating natural waters. Other local favorites are the Sagpan lake and mini-waterfalls in Barangay Siuton and a small but no less refreshing fount called Malijao Spring in Barangay Bacalon. Cool!

Our local cuisine is likewise well known. In Sorsogon province, Magallanes means the famous dried pusit (squid), kasag (crabs), palad-buaya (clams), kinunot and molidong pili. Visitors can readily savor them as soon as they set foot in our eateries and homes.

In Magallanes, transportation is easy by way of jeepneys, tricycles or motorbanca. Our people are hospitable, caring and will always be glad to help.
