The Magallanes Seaside Park and Children’s Playground (MSPCP) was opened on Dec. 7, 2020. The inauguration was part of the culminating activity of Children’s Month celebration and coincided with the Christmas Lighting Ceremony.
The MSPCP (simply called “Children’s Park) is located at Bgy. Binisitahan Norte. It encompasses 5,500 sq. meters with one big pergola in the center and 8 small cottages. Various playground structures such as swings and slides are installed for the enjoyment of children.
The Children’s Park was envisioned by the Local Government Unit of Magallanes headed by Mayor Augusto Manuel M. Ragragio, to provide green space for the citizens of Magallanes. Magallenos of all ages can go to the Park for exercises, picnics, relaxation, picture taking and more. There is also a spot for picture taking along the wall of the Marawi building. In 2022, three big statues of a carabao, a cow and a horse were put up and gave additional spots where children can climb and take pictures. Various tree species were planted to provide shade and contribute to the aesthetics of the park. Solar lights were also installed to augment the lamp posts in the park. Recently, 12 stalls were built where food vendors can sell their products.
Various events were held in the Children’s Park after it was opened in 2020. Because it was the pandemic years, the Children’s Park became the venue for Zumba exercises, distribution of goods to different sectors, Valentine’s day celebration, Teachers Day celebration and other activities.
The Children’s Park is adjacent to the Barangay Chapel of Binisitahan Norte and the Magallanes Learning Center which houses the Alternative Learning System of the Department of Education. The park is maintained by personnel from the LGU headed by the Park Manager, Mr. Riel Gime.
