HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF THE MUNICIPAL SEAL

MAGALLANES, is located at the mouth of Sorsogon Bay.

The COCONUT represents agriculture as the primary industry.

The FISH represents the fishing industry of the town.

The GALLEON represents the famous Spanish sailor, FERNANDO DE MAGALLANES, after whom the town is named. It also represents the shipbuilding and ship repair industry during the Spanish times.(It is said that galleons used to pass this place for repair and supply.)

The THIRTY FOUR (34) STARS represents the thirty four (34) BARANGAYS composing the municipality.

The year 1860 is the year MAGALLANES became a municipality.
