Magallanes was part of history in the making when more than two hundred Magallenos joined Sorsogon’s successful attempt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest group of dancers to swing and sway to a Philippine folk dance.
The attempt, initiated by Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero and his Tourism team was a resounding success. More than seven thousand participants from all over the province danced to the music of Pantomina, a folk Bicol courtship dance. Mayor Ragragio, with his wife Len, joined to watch the street spectacle and provide moral support to the Magallenos who gave an absolutely outstanding performance.
After thirty minutes of dance with full video, actual and photo documentation the Guinness award was presented by Guinness Adjuducator Mr. Swapnil Dangarikar to the very elated Governor Escudero and province’s first lady, Ms. Heart Evangelista.
