The Local Government Unit of Magallanes thru the Municipal Council for the Protection of Children (MCPC), chaired by Hon. Mayor Augusto Manuel M. Ragragio, conducted a Seminar-Workshop on Strengthening and Capability Building of 34 Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC). There were six batches of participants which included the ten BCPC members of each of the 34 barangays, scheduled each day from November 11 to 15, 2019.
The activity aimed to provide technical assistance in order to improve the functionality of the BCPCs. Discussions focused on the presentation of the situational analysis of children sector thru the Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Program (CLJIP), re-orientation of RA 9344 and the roles & responsibilities of BCPC, and protocol on handling children at risk (CAR) and children in conflict with the law (CICL).
Facilitators further guided the BCPC members in making their situational analysis of children in their own barangay; as well as in crafting their development investment plan for children.
Meanwhile, school principals/school heads/teachers in charge and coordinators of schools child protection committee will be gathered on Monday, November 18, 2018 for the same cause: Meeting-Dialogue on Strengthening Linkages and Coordination System towards the goal of achieving a Child-Friendly Municipality of Magayagayang Magallanes.
